Connect Claude to Nora

Add Nora as a read-only MCP connector and ask Claude about your own financial data.

Claude by Anthropic supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which lets it connect directly to your bank accounts through Nora. Here’s how to set it up in under 5 minutes.

How to connect

Add the Nora connector to Claude

Follow the steps below to paste your Nora MCP server URL into Claude. It works the same in Claude on the web and Claude Desktop.

Open Connectors

In Claude, open Settings and choose Connectors. Your existing connectors are listed there. Choose Add in the top right.

Add the Nora connector

Name the connector Nora and paste the server URL below. Claude detects Sign in now and Use Claude’s published identity — leave both as detected, then choose Add.

Choose Connect

Nora now appears in your connectors, marked as not connected yet. Open it and choose Connect to start the sign-in.

Sign in to Nora

Sign in with the Nora account that holds the data you want to ask about. Continue with Google, or use your email and password.

Allow read-only access

Review the financial information Claude is asking Nora to share, then choose Allow read-only access. Nora cannot change accounts or transactions, and it cannot move money.

Check the tool permissions

Nora shows as connected with its read-only tools listed. Choose when Claude may use them — always allow, ask you each time, or turn individual tools off.

Ask your question

Open a Claude chat and ask about your spending, balances or transactions. Claude can read only data already available in Nora.

Connect your bank accounts

Create a Nora account to securely link your bank accounts and credit cards through Plaid. Nora is currently free and you don’t need a card.

Open a Claude chat and ask about your money. Claude uses your current Nora records to answer questions about spending, balances and debts.

If something goes wrong

If Connectors is missing, your Claude plan or workspace may not have MCP connectors enabled.
If the sign-in window does not open, allow pop-ups and retry. Confirm that the server URL is exactly https://mcp.nora-fi.com/mcp.
If Claude does not use Nora, open the connector and check that its read-only tools are set to always allow or to ask you each time.
If Claude cannot find transactions, check that your account connection has finished importing in Nora.
Disconnect Nora in Claude’s connector settings to stop future access.
