Terms of Service
The terms for accessing and using Nora.
Last updated 5 September 2026
1. Agreement and operator
These Terms are an agreement between you and Benjamin Ollomo, who operates Nora. By creating an account, accepting these Terms or using Nora, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Nora.
2. What Nora is
Nora is a financial coach and decision-support tool. It can connect supported accounts, display and organize financial information, calculate metrics and identify patterns. It also provides AI explanations and conversations, clearly labeled coaching suggestions and personal-finance Boards you can create. Nora is not a bank and does not hold your money.
3. Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 18, legally able to enter a binding agreement, and use Nora only where it is lawful. Nora is currently intended for personal users in the United States and Canada. You must provide accurate information, protect your login credentials and email, verify your email when required before using financial features, and notify Nora if you think your account has been compromised.
4. Connecting financial accounts
Nora uses Plaid to connect supported institutions. You authorize Nora and Plaid to process the information you approve and confirm you may connect each account. Plaid and your institution may have their own terms and control available data, update timing, and connection availability.
5. Nora cannot move your money
Nora's current account functionality is read-only. It cannot initiate payments or transfers, withdraw money, execute trades, or otherwise move funds. Do not send bank passwords, card PINs, one-time banking codes, or similar credentials to Nora Chat.
6. Financial data and AI can be wrong
Data from your institution may be delayed, missing, duplicated or in the wrong category. Nora can also make errors when standardizing data, calculating results, estimating recurring payments or analyzing information. AI output can be incomplete, outdated, misleading or wrong, even when it sounds confident. Your institution’s records are the authoritative source. Check important information before acting.
7. Financial coaching and decision-support boundaries
Nora presents facts, interpretations, estimates, and optional coach suggestions as distinct types to help you make your own decisions. Nora is not acting as a financial or investment adviser, fiduciary, broker, dealer, bank, lender, accountant, tax adviser, lawyer, insurance adviser, credit counselor, or debt-relief provider. Nothing Nora produces is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold a security or other financial product. Nora does not guarantee savings, returns, debt reduction, tax results, or any other outcome. You remain responsible for your decisions and should consult a qualified professional before material or difficult-to-reverse action.
8. Your information and AI content
Public Help articles display review dates and provide general product instructions. They are not personalized financial advice or a guarantee of complete bank history, detector accuracy, or AI correctness. Reading help does not confirm recurring activity or execute financial actions.
Nora does not claim ownership of your personal financial information or original content merely because it is processed by the service. You permit Nora to host, transmit, organize, analyze, and process it as reasonably necessary to provide, support, secure, and lawfully operate Nora.
You are responsible for information you intentionally submit to AI features and must have the right to provide it. AI output may not be unique, and you decide whether it suits your use.
You can replay/reset guides while preserving achieved milestones, or clear guide progress and milestone timestamps together. These controls do not delete financial data. A completed guide or acknowledged review does not certify understanding or financial accuracy. Learning state is included in exports and is subject to the retention and deletion limitations in the Privacy Policy. Clearing learning progress also removes the Explore first preference. Home setup is optional and available to new and existing accounts.
9. Transaction edits and Boards
Transaction edits affect only how Nora displays or interprets a transaction; they do not change your institution's record. Boards are customized views and do not alter an account, balance, transaction, or obligation. AI-generated Boards may be validated or restricted before storage.
10. Acceptable use
You may not use Nora to:
- access another person's account or financial information without authorization;
- break the law, commit fraud, impersonate someone, or violate another person's rights;
- bypass authentication, authorization, or other security controls;
- disrupt, overload, scrape at scale, introduce malware, or exploit the service; or
- reverse engineer Nora except where applicable law expressly permits it.
Nora may investigate suspected violations and restrict access where reasonably necessary.
11. Providers and administrative access
Nora relies on providers for financial connectivity, authentication, AI, infrastructure, databases, hosting, analytics, authentication telemetry and administration, and merchant information. Those services may change or become unavailable. Better Auth Infrastructure provides provider-hosted authentication audit and user or session administration capabilities. Stored information may be accessed when reasonably necessary to operate, support, troubleshoot, secure, or comply with legal requirements, as described in the Privacy Policy.
12. Availability, changes, and beta features
Nora has no service-level guarantee. Outages, delayed data, provider failures and errors can occur. Features may change, be limited or end. Beta features may have more errors or be removed. Keep other records of important financial information.
13. Disconnecting and ending use
You can disconnect or stop using Nora at any time. Disconnecting stops normal sync and asks Plaid to remove the connection, but does not itself delete synchronized information. Eligible data can be soft-deleted separately after provider removal. Nora does not yet have one account-wide deletion workflow or final retention periods, including for provider-hosted authentication events. See the Privacy Policy.
14. Suspension and termination
Nora may restrict or end access because of a material breach, security risk, suspected fraud, legal or provider requirements, or discontinuation. Terms that should continue by their nature remain effective after termination.
15. Ownership, feedback, and notices
Nora and its licensors retain rights in the service, software, interfaces, design, and branding. You receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use it. Nora may use voluntary feedback without compensation; that grants no extra rights over private data.
Required notices may be provided in the product, by email, or another reasonable method. Questions about these Terms can be sent to support@nora-fi.com.
Monthly budgets
Budgets are user-created spending allowances, not bank balances, reserved funds, or a guarantee of affordability. Usual targets apply from their effective month forward, with explicit month-only exceptions. Posted expense records reduce the allowance; pending expenses and excluded transactions are shown separately. Refund credits do not reduce spending in this milestone. Transfers and repayments classified as transfers are excluded. Missing or incorrectly classified records can affect results.
Rollovers are not included. In-app budget alerts use fixed 80% and 100% thresholds, once per category, plan and current month, checked when the inbox refreshes. Existing spending, target edits and imports establish a quiet baseline. Alerts are not guaranteed immediate or offline delivery. Budgets may estimate remaining allowance after known confirmed recurring expenses. Accepted allocations reduce the expectation unless they explicitly complete it. Pending spending remains separate and may overlap a bill. Missing expectations can omit commitments; this is not a safe-to-spend amount. Budget targets do not change automatically. Editing a target does not move money. Deleting bank-connection data changes observed spending but preserves independent budget targets. Chat can explain saved budget targets and calculated results but cannot change targets. History reflects current records and may change after corrections; transaction examples are limited samples. Existing service, retention, and account-deletion limitations apply.
Usual budgets are versioned from an effective month, with explicit month-only exceptions. Earlier months retain their previous configuration. Editable suggestions use average eligible spending across the previous three calendar months; incomplete imports may lower them. They are not affordability recommendations, do not use AI, and are saved only when you choose. Ongoing versions and exceptions are included in your export.
